I am so excited for next week and can't wait to see the swimmers! Below are some important things to know, especially for our new members!
DIRECTIONS AND POOL LOCATION
At the bottom of this email are two map pins for the front and back entrance to campus, along with details on where to go once you enter campus. The campus is a little bit of a maze so hopefully this helps!
As many of you know, please be patient when arriving on campus. Sometimes trafic can back up a good bit due to Westminster's dismissal process or if they have sporting events. If parking is full or the back lot is blocked off you can park at the soccer fields that you will pass on your way to the roundabout. It's a little walk but a good warmup for swim practice!
WHAT TO BRING
All you need to bring to practices are goggles and a towel! We have everything else there, so you do not need to bring a kickboard or other equipment. Later in the season we may ask parent to invest in fins, but we do not use them at the beginning so you do not need to wory about them now!
It is also always a good idea to bring water, especially groups 3 and 4! It is so important to hydrate throughout practice!
For our older swimmers, we will also talk to them about bringing protein shakes and similar things for them to have after practice ends. Younger swimmers can do this too and I will send examples and ideas for all ages in the near future! Having a clean protein product after practice gets the muscle-rebuilding process started and helps the body recover much faster! Many more tips like this to come! If you ever have any questions at all about this stuff please feel free to call me anytime!
MEETS!
We are still working on our full meet schedule, but I DO have the first few meets finalized so you can put them on your calendar! Meets are so good for our swimmers for many reasons. For one, they are the best way for us to track your swimmer's progress- and not just by seeing their times drop! When we do meets we get to see what our swimmers really look like and we can see what we are NOT doing enough of and helps us tweak our training to make sure our swimmers are being taught everything they need to know! And of course the meets are FUN! The kids have such a good time and being with their teammates is so great! Be sure to put these dates on your calendar!
Sept 21: Douglasville
Oct 5-6: Cherokee County
Oct 19-20: Cumming
We will have 1 meet in November too, just waiting to hear which weekend we get.
Again, if you ever have any questions or concerns please reach out to me asap! You can call anytime, text, email, whatever is best for you! I can't wait to get started next week and see all your swimmers!
Thank you!
Coach Danny
